Art for Adults with Artist Sherry Fields @ Westbank

Indulge your artistic side at Art for Adults, our adult craft night at the library. All materials will be provided. Painting in Acrylics This class will be a fun and educational introduction to painting in acrylics. We will learn simple color mixing, discuss composition, and explore what an artist uses to create an interesting painting-what to leave in and what to take out. Each student will do a complete painting from a photograph or a simple still life, set up emphasizing light, shadow, color harmony, design, and center of interest. Sherry Fields began painting when she was in high school and went on to receive degrees in studio art and art history from The University of Texas. She generally works in pastels, oil, or acrylics, although she occasionally returns to watercolor, clay, or printmaking. Generally an abstract painter, at times she creates work that is impressionistic or representational, sometimes overlapping styles and mixing media. She enjoys the element of mystery in an abstract painting and likes the viewer to bring their own ideas and interpretation to the work. She has taught privately and in public schools, universities, and art museums, and has also worked as a graphic artist. One of the experiences she is proudest of is her time as an Artist in Residence with the State of Texas. Sherry’s work is held in private and corporate collections. She has shown in several galleries and participated in numerous shows. She has won awards for her paintings in several national exhibits and was a featured artist in the December 2021 issue of the International Artist Magazine.
